Join us for a conversation about what’s new in the accounting world, and how it will impact your Organization this year, and in future years. Two experienced auditors will break down in simple terms the latest developments with accounting for leases, the reporting impact of current expected credit losses, and looking ahead briefly to the new accounting standard update relating to cryptocurrency.

Learning Objectives – attendees will gain:

  • Examine examples of common control arrangements for leases and how they should be presented in financial statements
  • Recall the guidance and steps necessary for identifying and accounting for lease modifications and remeasurements
  • Review the scope of CECL, understand the steps for determining an allowance for credit losses, and gain an understanding of the application and purpose of these new rules.
  • Explore the details of ASU 2023-08, “Accounting for and Disclosure of Crypto Assets”


    Mark Douglas Robins,  CPA, Partner, Nonprofit Services Group

    Mark has more than a decade of experience in public accounting and currently works with nonprofit organizations with a revenue of $5 million to $100 million. He specializes in providing accounting and financial reporting services, Uniform Guidance compliance audits and financial statement audits. Mark’s expertise includes helping his clients understand GAAP and compliance requirements for transactions.

    As an avid researcher, Mark has deep technical knowledge in areas including revenue recognition, fair value concepts, related entities and federal compliance. He has a passion for teaching others and frequently leads trainings and webinars. He also trains a team of nonprofit accountants in financial reporting, compliance and auditing.

    Mark has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University, Northridge. He is a board member of Cornerstone Montgomery, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to empower people living with mental health and substance use disorders to live, work and integrate successfully within the community.

    William Donahue, CPA, Audit Partner, Nonprofit Services 

    Will has more than a decade of experience serving nonprofit clients, particularly those involved in advocacy (501(c)6 or 501(c)4). He works closely with controllers, directors of finance, CFOs and board members of tax-exempt organizations with a total revenue and support of $5 million or more. He specializes in providing assurance services, nonprofit consulting and board education/training.

    As a partner and mentor in Aprio’s nonprofit assurance practice, Will works with industry leaders to continuously improve the group's processes and performance. He enjoys finding innovative ways to improve processes both internally and externally. He takes pride in building relationships with his clients that are based on frequent communication, deep technical insight, trust and stability.

    Will is a thought leader in the nonprofit industry, frequently presenting at conferences for exempt organizations. He has achieved exceptional results for his clients, including bringing down an 11-month audit process to just 3 months for a new client.

    Will has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Temple University. He is a member of the Greater Washington Society of CPAs and the AICPA. He is the Chair of the Audit Committee of the University Club of Washington, DC. He is also an Eagle Scout.
